When summer temperatures soar and the humidity rises it is a good idea to hit the water at one of Hong Kong’s 44 public swimming pools. Many have kiddie pools and water slides to keep the little ones entertained. Adult admission is HK$17 during the week and HK$19 on weekends and public holidays. Children under three enter for free!
The city’s swimming pools are managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) who are responsible for the maintenance of the pool facilities. The LCSD’s website has an exhaustive list of all the pools in the city and the costs associated with them. Adults pay HK$17 for a single entrance fee while those with disabilities, children aged between 3 and 13 or full-time students can obtain concession rates of HK$8 during the weekdays and HK$9 on the weekends and public holidays.
Located on the waterfront in Ma On Shan this destination public pool has four giant waterslides, including two that are said to be Hong Kong’s fastest slides. There is also a round stepping pool and an outdoor Jacuzzi along with three leisure pools, two teaching pools, and the Olympic pool, which means there really is something for everyone here!

The main pool is surrounded by a number of lounge chairs and sofas to sit on and admire the scenery while kicking back and getting some sun. There is also a snack bar for those wanting to grab a bite to eat.
For those with little ones in tow, there is a large pool area that includes both leisure and training pools, and a toddler’s pool for those who are still learning to swim. There are also several slides and fountains to enjoy, and the pool is heated in winter making it a great choice for year-round swimming.
While it is not as big as some of the other pools in Hong Kong, this one offers stunning views of the South China Sea and is an ideal location for those who want to relax. There are lounge chairs and tables situated throughout the main pool as well as around the jacuzzi, which is a great spot to soak up the sun and watch the world go by.
Located in Kowloon Park, this large public pool has a leisure pool area with a number of waterslides and fountains suitable for all ages to enjoy while mum and dad take a dip. There is a diving pool, training pool and an Olympic pool for adults to swim laps in as well. A small shop is located at the entrance selling swimming costumes and floats as well as drinks for the kids! This pool is open from 6:30am to 10pm, with breaks from 12-1pm and 6:00-7:00pm. It is closed for cleaning on Mondays.
