When you think of Hong Kong, shopping and dim sum are likely the first things that come to mind. But did you know that the city is also home to some incredible pools? From the world’s highest pool to a natural infinity pond on a mountainside, here are some of Hong Kong’s best swimming spots.
A rooftop pool is a must-have for any hotel staycation, but a hotel pool with views of Hong Kong’s stunning skyline takes the experience to a whole new level. There’s nothing better than sipping on a cold drink while relaxing by the water, gazing out over the bustle of the city below you.
Located on the 76th floor of the W Hotel, the Wet Pool at Four Seasons is one of the most Instagram-worthy pools in the city. Surrounded by towering skyscrapers, the infinity pool is so gorgeous that it almost looks like you’re swimming right in Victoria Harbour itself. To add to the ambiance, the pool even has underwater speakers so you can enjoy your swim with some tunes! To book a room at this hotel that includes the fabulous Wet Pool, head over to Klook!
The new Kowloon Park Swimming Complex, opened in 1989, is the largest public pool in Hong Kong. Designed by Derek Walker Associates, the complex was financed in part by the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club and is operated by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. The pool consists of two 50m pools and a shallow pool for children, with the entrance costing $19. A daily pass is available for HK$19 (half price for students and people aged 60 and above). The pool’s changing rooms have lockers where you can use a refundable HK$5 coin to get a lock or bring your own padlock to secure your belongings.
Another beautiful public pool in Hong Kong is the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Swimming Pool, located in Sai Ying Pun. The pool was built to commemorate the late political leader Sun Yat Sen, and it’s designed to resemble his robe and hat. The pool has a 50m main pool, a diving platform and a teaching pool. The pool is open from 6:30am-12:00, 1:00-6:00, and 7:00-10:00pm. A daily pass is available for HK$19 or a monthly pool ticket for HK$300.
For something a bit more unique, check out the Kennedy Town Swimming Pool, designed by Farrells and completed in 2016. The curvaceous structure blends a building with a park, working to extend an existing green landscape. The zinc-clad outdoor pool overlooks Victoria Harbour and offers dramatic views towards the waterfront.
If you’re in search of a more luxurious swimming experience, check out the indoor pool at Cordis Hong Kong. This modern pool is heated and features fiber optic lights underneath the water to create a more lively atmosphere. The pool is only open to hotel guests, but you can still relax and soak up the views by booking a stay at this hotel on Klook!
